History of The Doagh Famine Village:
The Doagh Famine Village has beenin operation since 1997. It is an outdoor
museum that tells the story of life in this remote area of north Donegal from the Great Famine of the 1840’s up to the present time. Traditional life in this area changed greatly after Ireland joined the EU in 1973, and over the past decade or so the pace of change has accelerated.
Attractions include the Irish Wake, Eviction Scene, Presbyterian Meeting
House, Orange Hall, Mass Rock, Travelling Community, and the
Republican Safe House.
More recent additions to the Centre
include Ireland in the boom in the 1990’s and the more recent bust.
